Building Skills in Sexual Health: Let's Talk Stigma

Washington Association for Community Health, Washington AIDS Education and Training Center, and Washington State Department of Health are partnering to offer a monthly webinar series that will help Federally Qualified Health Centers leverage the whole care team to address patients’ sexual health. This is the fifth webinar of the 9-session series



Intended Audience:

  • Clinicians

  • Nurses

  • Pharmacists

  • Prescribers

  • Navigators

  • Health Educators

  • Behavioral Health Providers

  • Other members of the clinical care team


Learning Objectives:

As a result of attending the learning event, attendees will be able to describe how to:

  • Define stigma & begin understanding three different stigma types from the receiver perspective

  • Connect definition of stigma and its types and begin to explore how stigma manifests in real world situations

  • With situational awareness of how stigma can impact the healthcare system, identify action(s) that can be used to reduce stigma

Ray Harris

Stigma Reduction Consultant


Ray Harris has worked in HIV and STI prevention, treatment, navigation, and health education for nearly ten years. From sexual health screenings to producing Emerald City Black Pride, Ray has made strides to contribute to the unity, and health and wellness of ALL living in Washington state. Currently as the Stigma Reduction Consultant, he provides input, strategies, programs, and processes to address stigma reduction in healthcare among consumers and those apart of the workforce. Ray hopes to help forge new ideas that can invoke more understanding and acceptance, affecting heavily stigmatized health concerns
